Karmyn Norwood is the vice president for the Air Mobility & Maritime Missions (AMMM) International Programs Line of Business for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Marietta, Georgia. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing the product life cycle for all AMMM platforms for our international operations, as well as all site operations, which includes production, modernization and sustainment of military and civilian aircraft for the U.S. and its allies.
Her main focus is on affordability and efficiency to ensure long-term viability and competiveness of the site as well as programs including the C-130J Super Hercules airlifter and LM?100J commercial freighter; F-35 Lightning II multi-role, mult-variant combat aircraft; P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft; and the C-5M Super Galaxy strategic airlifter.
Karmyn Norwood Biography – Site General Manager Meridian, Mississippi
Previously, Ms. Norwood served as the site general manager at the company’s Meridian, Mississippi, facility. She managed operations of the Meridian plant, as well as production and delivery of C-130 parts and assemblies. She worked closely with leaders in Marietta and several subassembly sites to achieve program-level commitments and to drive affordability.
Karmyn Norwood Biography – Director of Operations in the Technical Operations Branch
Prior to this role, she served as director of operations in the Technical Operations branch at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, responsible for more than 7,000 engineers accountable for the design, development, integration, production and sustainment of military aircraft for the United States and countries around the world. Ms. Norwood also served as Director of Program Operations, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the F-22 Raptor fighter program. In this role, she was responsible for leading the internal merger of two multi-billion dollar programs (F-16 and F-22) to reduce costs, streamline processes and to strengthen the workforce. This merger resulted in the formation of the company’s Integrated Fighter Group.
Karmyn Norwood Biography – Director-Level Positions
A Lockheed Martin employee since 2002, Ms. Norwood has held various leadership roles of increasing responsibility including director-level positions on the F-22 Program, Engineering, and Technical Operations. Her professional career, which spans more than two decades and includes service to the U.S. Government, demonstrates diverse experiences in the federal government, commercial, and aerospace industries.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Jackson State University (Jackson, Mississippi), a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University (Fairfax, Virginia), and an Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Ms. Norwood is also a graduate of the Defense Acquisition University Program Management Institute. She is a recipient of the 2015 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Special Recognition.
Ms. Norwood is a member of the Jackson State University Computer Science Engineering and Technology Advisory Board where she provides student development opportunities as well as guidance on future industry opportunities in support of the school’s strategic vision. She is dedicated to ensuring a pipeline of diverse talent is developed through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives to help Lockheed Martin meet its future workforce requirements.
